The Arlberg is not just any area: it is one of the worlds best ski resorts and the biggest ski areas in Austria and the 5th largest ski area in the world. The 88 modern ski lifts, 305 km slopes and 200 km marked runs in the off-piste area will provide more than enough variety to keep you entertained.

Along the easy runs into town you will find a great choice of Apres Ski Bars and the 4 km long toboggan run promises fun in the snow. History.

  • 1386 Heinrich Findelkind founded the brotherhood and the Hospiz in St. Christoph to help travellers in need 
  • 1884 Opening of the Tunnel connecting Tyrol and Vorarlberg
  • 1901 The Ski-Club Arlberg was founded and 2 years later the first ski-club race took place
  • 1928 The famous Arlberg Kandahar Race took place for its first time   
  • 1921 Hannes Schneider founded the Skischule Arlberg, today it is the biggest Skischool in Austria
  • 1937 First ski-lifts were built
  • 2001 The Alpine Skiing World Champignonship took place in St. Anton
  • 2006 The Galzig Gondola got completely rebuilt and is the only one of its kind
  • 2016 The new Flexenbahn-lift connects now the ski area from St. Anton and Lech and is now the biggest ski area in Austria
